When many devs think of CSS they think of Peter Griffin trying to open window blinds. But for others CSS is more like putting their hand in the pain box from Dune while some product manager has a gom jabbar to their neck, daring them to pull their hand out.
There's a few reasons why tech continues to struggle with CSS.
We're bad at teaching CSS. While there are a ton of great CSS practitioners out there sharing their knowledge (Stephanie Eckles, Kevin Powell, and Adam Argyle, to name a few), a lot of people learn HTML and CSS in college or bootcamps from people who are perhaps not as knowledgeable, use outdated techniques or gloss over the basics in favor of frameworks like Bootstrap or Tailwind. As a result, you end up with a lot of folks who don't have a deep knowledge of HTML and CSS, which are the basic building blocks of the web.
We're bad at hiring for CSS. Just about every job listing for a full stack or frontend engineer lists HTML, CSS and JavaScript proficiency as a prerequisite, but when they interview candidates, they're rarely testing for anything other than JavaScript skills. If companies end up hiring people with CSS skills, it's usually by accident. And if you don't have people with those skills you can't vet other people for those skills and the problem perpetuates itself.

Without deep knowledge of CSS and with an inability to hire people with that knowledge, people go to great lengths to avoid writing CSS, whether by relying on Bootstrap/Tailwind or trying to do everything in JavaScript. They end up over-complicating things to the point where their CSS is extremely hard to maintain.

INTRODUCTION
Lorsque l’on travaille avec OpenstreetMap et, en général, pour tous les domaines d’activités qui relèvent de la géographie, de la géomatique et des SIG (Systèmes d’Information Géographique), il est bon de connaître les systèmes de référence spatiale, les projections et les différents formats de fichiers qui s’y rapportent.
Dans ce chapitre, nous allons voir les systèmes de projection qui sont utilisés par OSM, et notamment la projection dite « Pseudo-Mercator » (également appelée « Web Mercator » ou simplement « Mercator » ; code EPSG:3857) ; elle très largement utilisée pour le rendu des cartes sur internet. Ensuite seront abordés les différents types de fichiers de données OpenStreetMap, puis les fichiers SIG qui en sont dérivés, ainsi que d’autres formats. Enfin, seront présentés les principaux services de téléchargement de donnée OSM permettant de récupérer les types de fichiers présentés juste avant.

* Si vous vous trompez, c’est à ça que sert le daily : remonter les blocages.
* Enfin, la retrospective sert à remonter les problèmes que vous avez rencontrés pendant le sprint. Ça n’est pas parce que vous ne voyez pas de solution immédiate qu’il ne faut pas remonter le problème. Dans ce genre de situation, on vous reprochera de n’avoir rien dit et vous vous coupez d’une possibilité futur d’amélioration.

The cascade in CSS is a curse and blessing at the same time. It usually works quite well, but there are issues that let people get all worked up and ask the question Do We Even Need CSS Anymore. I can somewhat relate to that - but I also think it’s not the cascade alone and also about fighting specificity. Not running into issues with specificity is hard. Almost as hard as pronouncing that word. In this post I'll try to show a few ways how you can make the cascade be your friend and maybe reduce the need of overriding and thus encounter less fighting with specificity.
